Itoh Peonies

Itoh peonies are 'Intersectional'  hybrids derived from the cross of a tree peony and a herbaceous type. They are very much prized for there magnificent double blooms that can often  be up to 9 inches across.

Colours are usually a vivid lemon-yellow with occasional red flares at the center but there are now more and more interesting varieties becoming available.Blooms are often very fragrant with flowers that are produced for up to 6 weeks in late spring.

Plants will be supplied as large bare root  tubers with 3+ eyes ( growing tips )

The creamy yellow /apricot  blooms are dark red flamed toward the heart of the flower with an edge that is frilled and tinged red. This plant produces good long stems that are very suitable for cutting. 

Flowering time is mid June and to a height of 60-90cm

This variety opens its blooms initially as a cherry red colour that then fade and change colour to pink, apricot and eventually yellow.

Quite often on a mature plant it is sometimes possible for all 4 colours to be present making this a unique sight.

Flower stems grow to a good height above the leaves.

Produces full double yellow flowers with red flares near the center. This plant produces strong sturdy stems with the flowers placed well above the foliage that show well. A fully grown adult plant can produce in excess of 50 flowers.  Itoh Bartzella is previous Gold medal winner

This is a VERY fragrant, semi-double white bloomed peony that will open to show off  deep lavender-pink markings around yellow centers.
Once established, this plant is especially vigorous, producing up to 50 blooms in a season (starting in late spring),growing to around 2½ feet tall and 3½ feet wide.
